The philosophy of the Parker Police Department is to build partnerships with the community. We operate under the community policing / problem-solving approach. This method involves citizens taking a proactive role in working with the Police Department and other agencies to protect our community and make our neighborhoods safer and healthier. This approach to law enforcement recognizes the resource limitations in the criminal justice system and addresses that issue by taking some of the following actions:
The police work with the community using all available resources to address problems.
More emphasis is put on preventative methods to eliminate problems before they occur.
Better communication is established between the community and police by meeting frequently.
Each of us must accept our part of the responsibility to make positive changes instead of pointing blame.
Salary & Benefits
Patrol officers work a 10-hour day for four days per week. Salary starts at $51,500 a year while in the Police Training Officer Program. Upon completion of the Police Training Officer program, approximately 20 weeks, your salary will increase to $56,000 a year.

A current Colorado POST certification as a Level 1 Peace Officer is required at the time of hire. An Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or related field is preferred, along with a combination of education and experience to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. The ability to type 25 words per minute is required. The ability to successfully complete a background check including but not limited to a criminal history search, drug screen, polygraph, and psychological and physical examination is required.
Parker police officers are not required to live within the Town of Parker to be employed by the Town.
The Town provides its officers with uniforms, ballistic vests, a handgun, an AR rifle (once qualified), leather gear, rain gear, flashlight, digital portable radio, and other needed equipment.
